PM Modi Urges ‘Delivery Over Drama’ as Winter Session Begins

RR Team, December 1, 2025December 1, 2025

PM Modi Urges ‘Delivery Over Drama’ as Winter Session Begins

The Winter Session of the Indian Parliament began on Monday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivering a firm message to both lawmakers and the nation. Addressing the media before the session commenced, the Prime Minister urged elected representatives to prioritise “delivery, not drama,” emphasising that Parliament must remain focused on policies that strengthen governance and public welfare.

The session, scheduled from December 1 to December 19, is expected to take up important legislative business and debates. PM Modi’s remarks set a decisive tone, especially as the Opposition prepares to raise issues ranging from electoral processes to economic concerns.

‘India Has Lived Democracy’, Says PM Modi

Highlighting the nation’s long-standing democratic ethos, PM Modi said that India does not merely practice democracy it lives it every day. He noted that the enthusiasm shown by voters during recent state elections, including record turnout in Bihar, reflects a deep public faith in democratic values.

According to the Prime Minister, this collective trust must translate into responsible conduct within Parliament. He stressed that lawmakers must keep national interest above political rhetoric and work towards effective governance.

A Sharp Message to the Opposition

In one of the strongest remarks of his media address, PM Modi targeted the Opposition, urging it to move past what he described as the “sadness of losing elections.” He stated that while disagreements are natural in a democracy, disruptions and theatrics weaken the institution’s credibility.

“Whoever wants to do drama can do it,” he said, adding that the nation expects solutions, not slogans. His comments were widely seen as a response to the Opposition’s demand for debates on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise conducted by the Election Commission and other issues they intend to raise during the session.

Focus on Policy, Not Slogans

PM Modi reiterated that Parliament should act as a platform for constructive policymaking and delivery-oriented governance. He called on all sides to uphold the dignity of the House and engage in meaningful debate that benefits citizens.

The Centre is expected to introduce several bills during the session, including the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill 2025. Parliamentary sources suggest that discussions on economic reforms, administrative transparency, and social welfare schemes may also feature prominently.

NDA’s Recent Wins Strengthen Government’s Position

Referring to the National Democratic Alliance’s victory in recent state elections, PM Modi said that the mandate reflects the public’s confidence in the government’s work. He expressed hope that the Winter Session would move beyond partisan divides and focus on the nation’s broader developmental goals.
