On April 26, 2025, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed a group of over 51,000 newly appointed youth, who received permanent government positions across various departments of the Central Government under the Rozgar Mela initiative. In his heartfelt address, he acknowledged the pivotal role that the youth will play in shaping the nation’s future and emphasized the immense responsibility that comes with their new roles.

The Prime Minister urged the newly appointed individuals to carry out their duties with sincerity and honesty, as their contributions would have a lasting impact on India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation. He highlighted that the youth are the foundation of any nation’s progress, and when they actively participate in nation-building, countries not only experience rapid development but also secure a prominent place on the global stage. Modi stressed that initiatives like Skill India, Startup India, and Digital India are creating opportunities for young people to showcase their talents, driving the country forward in fields such as technology and innovation.

Acknowledging the role of India’s youth in the digital economy, the Prime Minister pointed out how platforms like UPI, ONDC, and GeM have propelled India to the forefront of the global digital landscape. He proudly noted that India now leads the world in real-time digital transactions, with the youth playing a key role in this achievement.

Looking to the future, Modi discussed the recently announced Manufacturing Mission, which aims to bolster the ‘Make in India’ initiative and provide youth with opportunities to manufacture products that meet global standards. This mission is expected to benefit millions of MSMEs and small entrepreneurs while creating thousands of new jobs. The Prime Minister also shared optimistic projections about India’s economic growth, with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) affirming that India will continue to be the fastest-growing economy in the world. He highlighted milestones in the automobile and footwear industries and pointed out the growth in Khadi and Village Industries, which are now contributing over ₹1.75 lakh crore in turnover and creating countless jobs, especially in rural areas.

In addition to economic growth, the Prime Minister noted the remarkable developments in inland water transport, which have dramatically increased cargo movement and expanded the country’s network of National Waterways. These achievements are creating new opportunities for youth in sectors that are central to the nation’s progress.

Modi also spoke about the upcoming World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES 2025), which will take place in Mumbai and provide a prestigious platform for young creators from India. This event will allow innovators in media, gaming, and entertainment to connect with global investors and industry leaders, showcasing the country’s creativity and technological advancements.

The Prime Minister was especially proud of the growing inclusivity within the country’s success stories, noting the increasing participation of women in all sectors. He celebrated the success of women in top UPSC positions and praised their rising prominence in fields like bureaucracy, space exploration, and science. He pointed out the government’s initiatives aimed at empowering rural women, such as self-help groups and various schemes that provide loans and support for women-led businesses.

As the young recruits embarked on their new professional journeys, Modi urged them to view their roles not just as personal achievements but as opportunities to serve the nation. He encouraged them to embrace the spirit of public service, where duty is seen as the highest form of contribution to the country’s development. He also reminded them to stay connected to their roots and give back to society, using the example of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, where individuals are encouraged to plant a tree in their mother’s name as an expression of gratitude.

The Prime Minister also called on the recruits to maintain a healthy lifestyle through yoga, which will contribute to their personal well-being and overall productivity. He stressed that their work should go beyond merely holding positions; it should be about serving the citizens of India and contributing meaningfully to the nation’s progress.

In closing, Modi shared a guiding mantra, “Nagrik Devo Bhava,” which translates to “The citizen is God.” He urged the new recruits to adopt this mantra as they embark on their careers, serving the people of India with integrity and devotion. He expressed his confidence that they would honor their positions, elevate the pride of the nation, and dedicate their efforts toward building a prosperous and developed India.

With heartfelt congratulations, the Prime Minister wished them success in their careers, expressing his faith that the newly appointed youth would rise to the occasion and contribute to making India a developed and prosperous nation.
