PM Modi’s Brazil Visit Begins With Cultural Tribute

RR Team, July 6, 2025July 6, 2025

A Patriotic Start to a Strategic Tour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Brazil to attend the 17th BRICS Summit and was welcomed with a powerful cultural performance themed on Operation Sindoor. The dance, set to the patriotic song “Saugandh Mujhe Iss Mitti Ki”, showcased India’s valor and drew applause from the Prime Minister himself.

The Indian community in Rio de Janeiro filled the room with energy, folk music, and traditional dance, setting a warm and emotional tone for Modi’s visit. He posed with the performers and praised their spirit, calling the event “vibrant” and “amazing.”

Operation Sindoor: The Inspiration Behind the Dance

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, 2025, targeting terrorist strongholds in Pakistan and PoK following the tragic Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 civilian lives. The coordinated missile strikes destroyed key Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba bases in Bahawalpur and Muridke.

This dance performance symbolized the nation’s unity and resilience, echoing sentiments that deeply resonated with the Indian diaspora in Brazil.

BRICS 2025 Agenda and Bilateral Talks

At the BRICS Summit (July 6–7), PM Modi is set to address global challenges including climate action, AI governance, multilateral reform, health, and security. He is also expected to engage in one-on-one meetings with fellow BRICS leaders.

During his state visit to Brasilia, Modi will meet President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Discussions will focus on deepening the India–Brazil Strategic Partnership in areas like defense, energy, commerce, agriculture, and space cooperation.

Indian Diaspora’s Warm Embrace

Brazil’s Indian-origin residents turned out in large numbers to welcome PM Modi. Vijay Solanki, a Gujarati-origin resident, said, “It’s an honour to see our PM here.” Another member, Pooja, shared her pride: “After three years in Brazil, this feels like home again.”

Modi expressed gratitude on X (formerly Twitter): “It’s amazing how our diaspora stays rooted in culture while contributing to India’s progress.”

Five-Nation Tour Continues

Brazil is the fourth stop in PM Modi’s ongoing eight-day, five-nation tour (July 2–9). He began in Ghana, followed by Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, and will conclude in Namibia, where he is scheduled to address their Parliament on July 9.
