PM Modi’s Heartfelt Interaction with Dawoodi Bohra Community Highlights Inclusion, Reform, and Shared Vision for Progress

RR Team, April 17, 2025June 1, 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with a delegation of the Dawoodi Bohra community at his residence, where heartfelt conversations unfolded around the challenges the community has faced over the years. The visit was marked by warmth, gratitude, and a strong sense of mutual respect. Community members, including doctors, educators, business leaders, and professionals, expressed deep appreciation for the Prime Minister’s efforts in bringing about the Waqf Amendment Act—a reform they had long hoped for.

The delegation shared personal stories of how properties belonging to their community were wrongly claimed under the previous Waqf system. They explained how these disputes often brought distress, particularly to vulnerable members such as widows and elderly women. In their words, the Prime Minister didn’t just act for minorities, but for the “minority within minorities,” reflecting a deeper understanding of the nuanced challenges faced by their community.

They spoke emotionally about how the Act has renewed their sense of belonging and security, and how under the Prime Minister’s leadership, they now feel a true spirit of inclusion. The community reaffirmed their faith in his vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, acknowledging the positive changes his governance has brought to their lives.

During the interaction, the Prime Minister spoke candidly about the years of effort it took to bring the Waqf Amendment Act into place. He emphasized that one of the driving motivations was the suffering endured by countless women—especially widows—under the earlier system.

Reflecting on his longstanding connection with the Dawoodi Bohra community, the Prime Minister praised their culture of service and social responsibility. He fondly recalled the meaningful discussions he had with Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin during the formulation of the Act, noting his invaluable contributions in shaping its details.

The Dawoodi Bohra representatives also voiced their commitment to the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India by 2047, expressing readiness to support this journey in every possible way. They lauded key initiatives like Aatmanirbhar Bharat, support for MSMEs, and empowerment programs for women, which have provided new opportunities for small businesses and families alike.

The interaction was a touching moment of shared understanding, mutual respect, and a reaffirmation of India’s strength in diversity—a testament to leadership that listens and communities that engage with hope.
