PM Pays Tribute to Sree Narayana Guru on Birth Anniversary

RR Team, September 8, 2025September 8, 2025
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid heartfelt tribute to social reformer and spiritual leader Sree Narayana Guru on his birth anniversary. Remembering the Guru’s enduring vision, the Prime Minister highlighted how his teachings continue to shape India’s social and spiritual fabric.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote, “On the birth anniversary of Sree Narayana Guru, we recall his vision and impact on our social as well as spiritual landscape. His teachings of equality, compassion and universal brotherhood resonate widely. His call for social reform and furthering education continues to inspire generations.”

Sree Narayana Guru’s Vision for Society

Sree Narayana Guru (1856–1928) is revered as one of the greatest social reformers in India. Born in Kerala, he dedicated his life to dismantling caste-based discrimination and promoting equality among people. His famous teaching, “One caste, one religion, one God for humanity,” continues to inspire movements for social justice.

By advocating for education and social harmony, Guru emphasized that true progress could only be achieved through knowledge and compassion. His initiatives to establish schools, temples, and community centers across Kerala played a transformative role in uplifting marginalized communities.

PM Modi’s Tribute in Regional Languages

Alongside his English message, Prime Minister Modi also shared his tribute in Malayalam, the native language of Kerala. He praised Guru’s commitment to equality, compassion, and universal brotherhood, noting that his call for education and social reform continues to guide India’s path toward inclusivity.

“On Sree Narayana Guru’s birth anniversary, we remember his vision and the deep influence he had on our social and spiritual domains. His values echo everywhere, and his call for reform and lifelong learning continues to motivate new generations,” the Prime Minister expressed.

Relevance in Modern India

Even nearly a century after his passing, Sree Narayana Guru’s teachings hold significant relevance in contemporary India. At a time when the country is striving to build a more inclusive and equitable society, his ideals of equality and brotherhood serve as guiding principles.

Educational reforms, community upliftment, and social harmony remain critical areas where his influence can be felt. Many organizations, both in Kerala and across India, continue to celebrate his legacy through cultural events, social work, and academic studies.

Prime Minister Modi’s tribute underlines the national recognition of Sree Narayana Guru’s contributions. It also highlights how historical figures who fought against social inequality continue to inspire modern India’s democratic and pluralistic ethos.

Public Response and Celebrations

Across Kerala and other parts of India, followers and devotees marked the occasion with prayers, cultural gatherings, and seminars. Various organizations held programs to discuss Guru’s philosophy and its application in the modern world. The anniversary is not just a spiritual event but also a call to remember his social reform efforts.

Many leaders and institutions joined the Prime Minister in paying respects, reiterating the relevance of Guru’s vision in shaping a progressive and inclusive India. His life continues to be a source of inspiration for policymakers, reformers, and ordinary citizens alike.
