PM Thanks Armed Forces on Armed Forces Flag Day

RR Team, December 7, 2025December 7, 2025
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Armed Forces Flag Day conveyed his deepest gratitude to the men and women serving in India’s Army, Navy and Air Force, lauding their discipline, resolve and indomitable spirit that protect the nation and strengthen its people.

Message of Gratitude and Duty

In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister thanked service personnel for their unwavering courage and supreme commitment to duty. He described the armed forces’ discipline and resolve as a shining example of devotion to the nation and appealed to citizens to honour that service through concrete support.

Call to Contribute: Armed Forces Flag Day Fund

Alongside his tribute, the Prime Minister urged citizens to donate to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund  a nationwide initiative that supports veterans, disabled soldiers, and families of martyrs. The fund channels public contributions into welfare, rehabilitation and livelihood programmes for beneficiaries associated with defence services.

Why the Day Matters

Observed annually on December 7, Armed Forces Flag Day is a moment for national gratitude and practical support. The day also highlights the sacrifices of uniformed personnel and their families, and renews public awareness about veterans’ welfare and rehabilitation needs.

Public and Institutional Responses

State leaders, defence officials and civil society organisations routinely mark the day with tributes, donation drives and outreach initiatives to veteran communities. Media reports from across the country covered the Prime Minister’s message and calls from other public figures urging citizens to participate in Flag Day activities.

From Words to Action: Supporting Veterans

Contributions to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund are accepted through multiple channels including state coordinating offices, defence welfare boards and designated online portals. Donations are used for medical care, education support, skill training and small-scale livelihood projects aimed at improving the quality of life for ex-servicemen and dependents.

National Unity and Respect

The Prime Minister’s message emphasized that the forces’ commitment is integral to national resilience. He framed public support not only as charity but as a civic duty  reinforcing a broader narrative that national security and social solidarity are interlinked.
