PM Unveils ₹1219 Cr Projects in Kevadia on Sardar Patel Jayanti

RR Team, October 30, 2025October 31, 2025
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth ₹1219 crore in Kevadia, Gujarat, on the eve of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th Jayanti. The initiatives, unveiled near the Statue of Unity, reflect the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening infrastructure and promoting sustainable growth in the region.

Key Projects to Boost Kevadia’s Growth

The projects launched by the Prime Minister include the Birsa Munda Bhavan — an iconic centre dedicated to the tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda — a residential complex for GSEC and SSNNL employees, the first phase of the hospitality district, and a newly developed Bonsai Garden. Together, these initiatives aim to enhance tourism, improve infrastructure, and generate employment opportunities in Kevadia.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister described the projects as a significant step toward transforming Kevadia into a world-class tourist destination while preserving India’s cultural and natural heritage.

Promoting Green Mobility in Kevadia

In a major push towards sustainability, Shri Modi flagged off a fleet of electric buses in Kevadia. The move is designed to promote eco-friendly transportation and ensure comfortable, low-emission mobility for visitors and residents alike. The electric bus fleet is expected to reduce the carbon footprint in and around the Statue of Unity complex.

“The launch of electric buses marks another milestone in our journey towards a cleaner and greener India,” the Prime Minister said, emphasizing the importance of balancing development with environmental conservation.

Tribute to the Iron Man of India

To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Prime Minister released a special commemorative coin and postage stamp in his honour. These releases pay tribute to Patel’s monumental role in uniting India and shaping the nation’s administrative foundation post-independence.

Shri Modi highlighted how Sardar Patel’s vision and leadership continue to inspire modern India’s governance and development. “Every project in Kevadia carries the spirit of unity that Sardar Patel envisioned for our nation,” he said.

Meeting Sardar Patel’s Family

During his visit, the Prime Minister met with members of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s family. He expressed his deep respect and gratitude, calling it a “delightful and emotional moment” to interact with the descendants of one of India’s greatest leaders. Shri Modi also recalled Patel’s decisive contribution to integrating more than 560 princely states into the Indian Union.

Cultural Celebration of Sardar Patel’s Legacy

In the evening, the Prime Minister attended a vibrant cultural programme showcasing the life, ideals, and enduring legacy of Sardar Patel. The event featured performances and visual presentations depicting Patel’s role in India’s freedom movement and his efforts in consolidating the nation during its formative years.

The programme also underscored Patel’s influence in building modern India’s institutions and his unyielding commitment to national unity, values that continue to guide India’s development path.

Kevadia: A Symbol of Unity and Progress

Kevadia, home to the iconic Statue of Unity, has rapidly evolved into a hub for eco-tourism and cultural harmony. With projects like the new hospitality district and sustainable transport systems, the government aims to make Kevadia a global model of development rooted in India’s ethos of unity.
