PM Visits Bihar & West Bengal for Rs 12,200 Cr Projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bihar and West Bengal on July 18, 2025, to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹12,200 crore. The initiative marks a major push towards infrastructure and socio-economic development in eastern India.

₹7,200 Crore Boost to Bihar

In Bihar, projects worth ₹7,200 crore were launched, spanning across railways, power, IT, and urban development. Key highlights include:

  • STPI Center in Darbhanga – Boosting local IT and startup ecosystem.
  • Amrit Bharat Train – New services enhancing passenger experience.
  • PM Gati Shakti Projects – To improve logistics and connectivity.
  • Sewerage and Water Projects – As part of urban development schemes.

₹5,000 Crore Projects in West Bengal

In West Bengal, the PM launched projects worth ₹5,000 crore with a focus on fisheries, LPG connectivity, and urban waste management. Key initiatives:

  • PM Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) – Upgrading fisheries sector infrastructure.
  • City Gas Distribution Project – Enhancing clean fuel access in urban and rural homes.
  • Solid Waste Management Facilities – Promoting waste segregation and sustainable cities.

Strengthening Regional Development

These projects are expected to generate thousands of jobs and promote economic opportunities in semi-urban and rural areas. The inauguration of the PM Urja Ganga Pipeline segment in Bengal will further fuel the growth of industrial clusters.

Vision for Viksit Bharat

PM Modi emphasized that these investments are aligned with his government’s goal of building a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. He stated that empowering the eastern states is key to achieving inclusive and balanced national growth.
