Vast Archival Collection Digitized
PMML houses over 25 million documents from more than 1,300 individuals and organisations, including personal papers, speeches, diaries, correspondence, and newspaper clippings. These records are vital for scholars of Modern and Contemporary Indian History.
Through a comprehensive digitization project, the library has converted a substantial portion of its most frequently accessed materials into digital formats, safeguarding delicate documents while enabling restricted remote access.
Dedicated Digital Platform for Scholars
A specialized IT platform now allows registered researchers to submit online requests to view specific archival materials. Upon approval, these documents are securely made available on the researcher’s desktop for viewing only, ensuring both access and preservation.

Shri Ashwani Lohani, Director of PMML, highlighted that the initiative reflects the library’s commitment to promoting high-quality research and facilitating in-depth study of India’s post-independence political history. The digital archives are expected to serve as a vital resource for scholars, historians, and knowledge seekers across the world.
