PMMVY Registration Drive Extended Till August 15

RR Team, August 4, 2025August 4, 2025

The government has extended hope to millions of women across India. The Ministry of Women and Child Development has officially extended the special registration drive for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) till August 15, 2025.

This extension offers a vital window for eligible pregnant and lactating women to enroll and receive direct financial support through this landmark maternity scheme.

What Is PMMVY?

PMMVY is a centrally sponsored scheme launched to support mothers during pregnancy and early motherhood. It provides financial assistance to compensate for wage loss and encourage rest and care before and after childbirth.

Implemented under Mission Shakti’s sub-scheme ‘Samarthya’, PMMVY encourages a healthier lifestyle, better nutrition, and timely health check-ups for expecting mothers. It also fosters positive attitudes toward the girl child.

Registration Drive Gets an Extension

To reach the last eligible woman in every village, the Ministry initiated a door-to-door awareness and enrollment campaign. Anganwadi and ASHA workers are leading this mission, making sure no eligible woman is left behind.

This campaign, which began earlier this year, has now been extended till Independence Day, August 15, 2025. The goal is simple: ensure every woman who needs support, gets it in time.

Over 4.05 Crore Women Have Already Benefited

Since its inception, more than 4.05 crore women have received at least one installment under the scheme. A whopping ₹19,028 crore has been disbursed via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into their bank or post office accounts.

This not only empowers women financially but also reduces out-of-pocket expenses during pregnancy.

Cash Incentives That Matter

PMMVY provides:

  • ₹5,000 in two installments for the first child
  • ₹6,000 in one installment for the second girl child

These funds help expecting mothers rest, recover, and ensure a healthy start for their newborns.

Technology-Driven Delivery Through PMMVYSoft

Launched in March 2023, the PMMVYSoft digital platform has revolutionized how the scheme is delivered. Using Aadhaar-based authentication, biometric facial recognition, and integration with UIDAI and NPCI, the process is now smoother and faster.

This ensures the right person gets the benefit without delays or leakages.

More Than Just a Payment

The scheme is about more than just cash. It promotes:

  • Regular antenatal checkups
  • Health-seeking behavior
  • Early registration of pregnancy
  • Awareness about the importance of girl children

This holistic approach contributes to better maternal and child health outcomes across India.

Reforms That Strengthen the Scheme

Recent upgrades include:

  • Integrated Grievance Redressal Module for quick resolutions
  • Multilingual and toll-free PMMVY helpline (14408)
  • Due-list tracking to identify potential beneficiaries

These reforms help improve coverage, transparency, and accountability.

Support from the Ground Up

Anganwadi and ASHA workers are the true champions of this scheme. They work in the most remote areas to identify beneficiaries, spread awareness, and assist women with digital enrollments.

With their help, the August 15 deadline aims to ensure no eligible woman misses out.

Why This Matters

India faces challenges related to maternal nutrition, early child health, and gender equity. PMMVY directly addresses these by providing the financial and emotional support women need during this critical phase.

By empowering women and supporting families, the scheme strengthens the very fabric of society.

How to Register

Eligible women can register by visiting their nearest Anganwadi Centre or connecting with ASHA workers in their community.

Documents required:

  • Aadhaar card
  • Bank/post office account details
  • Mother and Child Protection (MCP) card

Conclusion: A Promise of Care and Dignity

The extension of the PMMVY registration drive till August 15, 2025, is a timely move to empower women and protect children. It underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive development and maternal well-being.

More than a scheme, PMMVY is a symbol of dignity, support, and a healthier future for India’s mothers and daughters.
