Strategic Importance of Chenab Valley Projects
The CVPP projects in J&K are critical for the national renewable energy agenda, adding over 2,100 MW of hydropower capacity. Completion of these projects is expected to strengthen the regional power grid, improve energy security, and promote sustainable development in the northern states.
The projects also support local employment and infrastructure growth, aligning with broader government objectives for rural development and green energy expansion.
Future Outlook
Shri Manohar Lal emphasized adherence to deadlines and continuous monitoring. The Ministry of Power will coordinate with NHPC and CVPP to track project milestones and ensure timely commissioning. This strategic oversight is aimed at meeting India’s energy demands while promoting hydropower as a key component of renewable energy transition.
