Boosting Quality and Safety Standards
The laboratory, accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) under ISO/IEC 17025:2017, is equipped to test a wide variety of materials. These include packaged drinking water, food packaging, construction materials, metals, alloys, plastics, fertilizers, and organic products. It also has approvals under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Outside Laboratory Scheme, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and the Fertilizer (Control) Order, 1985.
According to the Ministry, the facility will ensure higher safety, quality assurance, and compliance across industries while supporting India’s push for global quality benchmarks.

Advanced Testing Infrastructure

The Ghaziabad laboratory houses sophisticated instruments such as Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS), Inductively Coupled Plasma–Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES), Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES), Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and Ion Chromatograph. These facilities will enable precise and reliable testing for both government agencies and private industries.
In addition to testing, the lab will also provide training and research support to universities, engineering colleges, and industries, helping to nurture skilled manpower in scientific and industrial domains.
Expanding Scope of Food Safety
The laboratory has ambitious plans to expand into fortified food testing. Future services will include quality checks for fortified wheat flour, refined flour (maida), edible oils, nuts, and salt enriched with vitamins A and D. It also aims to introduce spice testing and micronutrient analysis, thus playing a vital role in ensuring public health and food safety.
This expansion aligns with India’s broader nutrition and food security goals, as highlighted in government initiatives like FSSAI’s food fortification program.
