President Droupadi Murmu graced the convocation ceremony of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology in Hisar, Haryana, today, addressing students, faculty, and dignitaries with a message of education, innovation, and social responsibility.
Highlighting India’s ambition to become a Global Knowledge Superpower, the President stressed the importance of world-class research in universities. She commended the institution for its contributions to research and innovation, pointing out its specialized departments for incubation, start-ups, patents, and research projects. These efforts, she said, would foster a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among students, ultimately strengthening India’s position on the global stage.
The President also spoke about the deeper purpose of education beyond acquiring knowledge and skills. True education, she said, nurtures values like morality, compassion, and tolerance, shaping individuals who are not only employable but also socially responsible. She encouraged students to embrace entrepreneurship, urging them to develop a mindset of creating jobs rather than merely seeking employment. By identifying opportunities, taking risks, and finding creative solutions to societal challenges, they could contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress.
Reflecting on the legacy of Guru Jambheshwar Ji, after whom the university is named, she highlighted his teachings on scientific thinking, ethical living, and environmental conservation. His belief in humanity’s moral duty to protect nature and care for all living beings remains highly relevant today, she noted. Expressing confidence in the students and faculty, she encouraged them to uphold his values and continue working towards the betterment of society and the country.
