President’s Message on Ganesh Chaturthi
In her statement released from Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Murmu said, “On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, I extend my heartfelt greetings to every Indian in the country or abroad. Bhagwan Shri Ganesh is worshipped as the source of wisdom and well-being. We seek His blessings for new beginnings and removal of obstacles.”
She further highlighted that the festival inspires citizens to embrace positivity and move forward with determination and fresh goals. The President urged people to celebrate the occasion with devotion and responsibility.

Call for Eco-Friendly Celebrations

In a significant part of her message, President Murmu stressed the importance of environmental conservation during the festivities. “Let us celebrate this festival while conserving our environment, and contribute towards building a cleaner, greener and more prosperous nation,” she said.
Over the past decade, eco-friendly Ganesh idols made of clay and natural colors have gained popularity. This shift reduces water pollution during idol immersion, aligning with the President’s call for sustainable practices. Citizens across cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad are increasingly adopting eco-conscious methods to honor Lord Ganesha without harming rivers and lakes.
Ganesh Chaturthi: A Festival of Unity
Ganesh Chaturthi, which originated in Maharashtra and spread nationwide, brings people together across communities. Pandals, cultural programs, devotional music, and traditional rituals mark the 10-day festival, creating a vibrant atmosphere of unity and devotion.
The festival also carries a deeper message of inclusivity. Lord Ganesha, often called “Vighnaharta” or remover of obstacles, is seen as a divine force that guides individuals and societies through challenges towards success and peace.
Faith and Responsibility Together
Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 is not just a celebration of faith but also a reminder of responsibility towards the environment. Religious leaders, NGOs, and civic bodies are promoting eco-friendly idols and immersion practices, aligning with the President’s message. Many educational institutions and housing societies have also adopted eco-conscious celebrations, showing how devotion and sustainability can go hand in hand.
