President Meets Defence and MES Probationers

RR Team, July 24, 2025July 23, 2025

Young Officers Meet the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan

On July 24, 2025, probationers from the Indian Defence Estates Service, Military Engineer Services (MES), and Central Water Engineering Service called on the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

This interaction was more than a courtesy visit. It was a moment of inspiration. The President used this opportunity to guide, encourage, and set the tone for the young officers’ professional journey.

Technology is the Future of Governance

Addressing the Indian Defence Estates Service officers, President Murmu emphasized the importance of embracing digital transformation in governance. She urged them to stay current with new technologies and integrate them into daily operations.

She noted that tools like Artificial Intelligence, satellite imagery, blockchain, and drone-based land surveys are no longer futuristic. They are real and essential. Their application can transform how defence lands are managed and how property records are maintained.

Green Practices in Defence Infrastructure

The President also highlighted the need to adopt eco-friendly practices. She advised the Defence Estates officers to promote renewable energy, reduce wastage, and prioritize water conservation in cantonments. These changes, she said, will shape a more resilient and sustainable future.

MES Officers Urged to Build with Responsibility

While speaking to Military Engineer Services officers, President Murmu stressed that their role is not just to build — but to build responsibly.

She encouraged the use of indigenous materials under the Make in India campaign. This would support national self-reliance and promote cost-effective innovation in defence infrastructure projects.

Importantly, she urged MES officers to focus on sustainability. Adopting renewable energy sources and reducing the carbon footprint must be key priorities in their projects.

Water Engineers: Guardians of India’s Future

Turning her attention to the Central Water Engineering Service officers, President Murmu emphasized the importance of their work in ensuring water security and climate resilience.

In the face of climate change and erratic monsoons, managing and preserving water resources is critical. She stated that their engineering expertise will help boost agriculture, improve public health, and reduce India’s vulnerability to water crises.

Clean water and conservation are keyPresident Meets Defence and MES Probationers to India’s growth story, and these officers have a big role to play in that vision.

Building a New Generation of Leaders

The President’s speech wasn’t just about policy — it was about purpose. She encouraged all three groups to serve with integrity, innovation, and compassion. Each officer has the chance to create long-lasting change, not just in systems but in society.

By using technology, embracing sustainability, and aligning with national missions like Atmanirbhar Bharat, these officers can contribute meaningfully to India’s progress.

Conclusion: A Call to Serve with Vision

President Murmu’s address was a clear call to action. It reminded the young probationers that government service is not just a job — it’s a responsibility.

Their contribution to India’s development, whether in land management, defence infrastructure, or water engineering, will shape the nation for decades to come. As they begin their journeys, the President’s message will guide their steps toward building a better India.
