President Murmu Flies Indigenous LCH Prachand at Jaisalmer

In a significant demonstration of India’s defence capabilities, President Smt Droupadi Murmu flew the indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachand today at Air Force Station Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The sortie marks a new chapter in the President’s engagement with India’s advanced military aviation, following previous flights in the Sukhoi 30 MKI in 2023 and the Rafale fighter in 2025.

Sortie Details and Flight Path

The mission was executed as a two-aircraft formation, with President Murmu piloting the lead LCH alongside Group Captain Nayan Shantilal Bahua. The second aircraft carried Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, and Group Captain A Mahendra. The flight lasted approximately 25 minutes, covering iconic Jaisalmer landmarks including Gadisar Lake and Jaisalmer Fort, with a simulated attack on a tank target demonstrating the LCH’s precision strike capability.

President’s Reflections on Indigenous Defence Technology

After the sortie, President Murmu penned her impressions in the visitor’s book, noting, “The sortie in India’s indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopter ‘Prachand’ is an enriching experience for me. This sortie has filled me with a renewed sense of pride in the nation’s defence capabilities. I congratulate the Indian Air Force and the entire team of Air Force Station Jaisalmer for successfully organising this sortie.”
