Tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Kartik Oraon

President Murmu recalled the life and ideals of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, stating that his legacy remains a guiding force for the tribal communities and the nation. She noted that Birsa Munda’s vision of dignity, self-respect, and justice continues to shape India’s social consciousness.
The President also paid homage to Pankhraj Saheb Kartik Oraon, describing him as a towering leader who strengthened tribal consciousness and identity by following the ideals of Birsa Munda. She said Kartik Oraon dedicated his entire life to the upliftment of tribal society and the service of the nation.
Education and Social Unity as Pillars of Progress
Highlighting Kartik Oraon’s contribution, President Murmu said that he worked tirelessly for the spread of education and the strengthening of social unity. His efforts, she noted, helped empower tribal communities and provided them with opportunities for progress while preserving their cultural roots.
She urged citizens to draw inspiration from such leaders and resolve to work collectively for the overall development of society and the country. According to the President, inclusive growth can only be achieved when development reaches the most marginalised sections.
Preserving Tribal Heritage for Future Generations
The President observed that Jharkhand and surrounding regions have produced numerous tribal heroes whose contributions deserve national recognition. She said the government has taken steps to familiarise people with their heroic tales through initiatives such as the establishment of tribal museums.
However, she emphasised that preserving tribal history is not the responsibility of the government alone. Every individual and institution associated with tribal heritage must ensure that the stories of these heroes reach the youth and future generations.
Youth, Tradition and Modern Development
President Murmu stressed the importance of connecting the younger generation with tribal traditions and values. She said that while safeguarding their identity and heritage, tribal youth must also move confidently on the path of modern development.
Expressing confidence in the resilience and capability of tribal communities, the President said they would continue to progress while preserving their rich cultural legacy. She described this balance between tradition and innovation as essential for building a strong and inclusive India.
