President Murmu noted that the world is witnessing rapid transformations driven by technological advancements, economic shifts, and evolving social structures. However, she cautioned that alongside progress, humanity is facing serious concerns such as mental health challenges, social discord, environmental degradation, and the gradual erosion of ethical values.
In this context, she said the theme of the conference was highly relevant and timely. Emphasising that material growth alone cannot ensure lasting happiness, the President stressed the importance of inner stability, emotional intelligence, and a value-based way of life.
The President highlighted that India’s ancient sage tradition has consistently promoted truth, non-violence, compassion, and peaceful coexistence. According to her, these timeless principles provide meaningful solutions to many of the mental, moral, and environmental crises confronting the modern world.
She described the confluence of modern thought and spiritual wisdom as the defining strength of Indian civilisation. This synthesis, she said, enables progress without losing moral direction and innovation without compromising human values.
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and Global Peace
President Murmu underlined the growing relevance of the ancient Indian concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which envisions the entire world as one family. She said this philosophy is essential for fostering global harmony at a time marked by conflicts, divisions, and mistrust among nations.
By encouraging empathy, mutual respect, and collective responsibility, the President noted, this worldview can help build a more peaceful and cooperative international order.
