President Murmu Inaugurates Key Development Projects in Odisha

President of India Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a wide range of developmental projects in Rairangpur, Odisha, giving a significant boost to education, healthcare, cultural infrastructure and tribal welfare in the region. The projects are expected to accelerate socio-economic growth in Mayurbhanj district, one of the State’s prominent tribal-dominated areas.
The President inaugurated the Information Technology Campus of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University and laid foundation stones for several key institutions and public infrastructure projects during the ceremony held on February 4.

Major Projects Unveiled

The projects announced by the President include an AYUSH Hospital-cum-Ayurvedic College, a campus of the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, an Archery Centre, city beautification works, drainage upgradation projects, an auditorium and cultural centre, a girls’ hostel and a deaddiction centre.

Officials said these initiatives have been designed to strengthen education and healthcare infrastructure while also promoting sports, culture and social welfare in the region.

Purvodaya Vision Driving Odisha’s Growth

Addressing the gathering, President Murmu said that the Government of India’s “Purvodaya” vision places special emphasis on the development of eastern India, with Odisha playing a key role in this transformation. She noted that Mayurbhanj district is already witnessing tangible benefits from this focused approach.

The President expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated institutions and upcoming projects would create employment opportunities and improve access to essential services for the local population.

Focus on Tribal Welfare

Highlighting the government’s commitment to tribal development, the President said special efforts are being made to strengthen the economic position of tribal communities across the country. She cited the provision of minimum support prices for over 90 minor forest products under the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana as a major step in this direction.

She also referred to micro-credit facilities for tribal self-help groups and low-interest loans for Scheduled Tribe women under the Tribal Women Empowerment Scheme.

Health, Education and Connectivity Initiatives

The President underlined the importance of improving health and education facilities in tribal areas. She pointed out that the Pradhan Mantri-JANMAN Yojana has been launched specifically for the welfare of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups.

She added that electrification has been extended to tribal-dominated regions and that 4G internet connectivity has reached many remote and previously underserved areas, helping bridge the digital divide.

Inclusive Development and Viksit Bharat Vision

President Murmu emphasised that the upliftment of the poorest sections of society is inseparable from the development of tribal communities. She said the government is working continuously to ensure that tribal citizens receive the full benefits of welfare and development schemes.

Urging people to actively participate in these programmes, she said local development would ultimately lead to the progress of the State and the nation. She stressed that the goal of building a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047 can only be achieved through collective efforts of the government and citizens.

Regional Impact

The initiatives announced at Rairangpur are expected to have a lasting impact on Mayurbhanj and surrounding districts by strengthening human capital, improving urban infrastructure and promoting social harmony.
