President Murmu Inaugurates National Arogya Fair 2026

Shegaon, Maharashtra – President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the National Arogya Fair 2026 today in Shegaon, Buldhana district, Maharashtra, emphasizing the critical role of Ayurveda, Yoga, and other AYUSH systems in promoting holistic health. During the event, the President felicitated six senior Vaidyas for their outstanding contributions to the field of traditional medicine.

AYUSH Systems: A Legacy of Health and Wellness

Addressing the audience, President Murmu highlighted that Indian tradition regards overall health as the greatest source of happiness. She stressed that healthy citizens are essential for national strength and development. “Ayush systems of medicine have made an invaluable contribution to citizens’ health. Yoga, Ayurveda, and Siddha have been serving people since the dawn of modern medicine,” she said.

She further noted that India’s farms, kitchens, and forests are rich sources of medicinal plants and health-protecting herbs. Conserving and promoting these natural resources not only ensures a steady supply for medicines but also aids environmental balance. Cultivation of medicinal plants benefits farmers economically while improving soil health and supporting biodiversity.

Integrating Traditional Medicine with Modern Science

The President underscored the global recognition of integrative medicine for disease prevention. Yoga and Ayurvedic treatments are gaining popularity worldwide, offering holistic solutions for stress-free and healthy living. She encouraged evidence-based research, standardization of medicines, and strict quality control to further enhance the credibility and acceptance of AYUSH systems.

“The Ministry of AYUSH is continuously striving to establish international standards for research and drug development. Numerous scientific initiatives are underway to present Ayurveda, Yoga, and other traditional systems as reliable solutions to modern health challenges,” she added.

President Murmu expressed optimism that combining traditional knowledge with scientific interventions, global collaboration, and innovation would make AYUSH an integral part of India’s holistic healthcare system.

Promoting Health, Economy, and Environment

The event highlighted that promoting AYUSH systems benefits multiple dimensions of society. Besides physical wellness, it contributes to economic growth by generating employment for farmers and practitioners. Environmentally, cultivation and conservation of medicinal plants support sustainable agriculture and biodiversity.

The National Arogya Fair 2026 also served as a platform to showcase advancements in research, health technologies, and medicinal products based on AYUSH principles, aiming to increase public awareness and participation in holistic health practices.
