President Murmu Meets Officer Trainees at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi, February 16: The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on Monday interacted with officer trainees from the Indian Audit & Accounts Service (IA&AS), Defence Aeronautical Quality Assurance Service (DAQAS), and Indian Trade Service (ITS) at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Addressing the young officers, she urged them to serve the nation with dedication, integrity and innovation.
The interaction formed part of their orientation and exposure programme, offering the trainees an opportunity to engage with the Head of State and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

‘Lead by Example,’ Says President

Congratulating the officers on their selection into prestigious services, President Murmu reminded them that countless young aspirants dream of reaching similar positions. She said only a few get the opportunity, and those who do must recognise the responsibility that comes with it.

She encouraged them to become role models and sources of inspiration for others. According to her, the responsibility to lead by example will accompany them throughout their professional journey.

The President noted that when officers work with commitment for national development and citizens’ welfare, India grows stronger and more respected globally. She described their passion and dedication as forces capable of transforming the nation’s future.

Guidance for Indian Audit & Accounts Service Officers

Addressing the IA&AS trainees, the President described them as custodians of public trust and guardians of financial prudence. She emphasised that accountability forms the backbone of good governance.

She highlighted the importance of synergy between the Executive and Audit institutions. An effective partnership, she said, enhances the efficiency of public spending and ensures that desired outcomes are achieved.

President Murmu urged them to uphold constitutional values and maintain the highest standards of integrity throughout their careers.

Focus on National Interest for Trade Officers

Speaking to the Indian Trade Service trainees, the President stressed their crucial role in shaping India’s global economic footprint. She said they would contribute to attracting investment, generating employment and creating an enabling environment for businesses to innovate and compete internationally.

She reminded them that every policy implemented, every trade barrier addressed and every agreement supported would directly impact India’s position as a respected trading partner.

Their guiding compass, she said, must always remain India’s national interest.

Quality and Innovation in Defence Assurance

Turning to the Defence Aeronautical Quality Assurance Service trainees, the President underlined their responsibility to ensure world-class quality standards in arms and ammunition for the armed forces.

Their role, she said, lies at the intersection of science, technology, engineering and national defence. She encouraged them to adopt innovative approaches to strengthen India’s defence capabilities.

She called upon them to contribute to transforming the Armed Forces into a technologically advanced, combat-ready force capable of multi-domain integrated operations.

Commitment to Strong Governance

The interaction reflected the government’s emphasis on strengthening institutions and empowering young officers. By engaging directly with trainees, the President reinforced the importance of ethical leadership and professional excellence in public service.
