
President Murmu Highlights Guru Ji’s Universal Message

In her message, President Murmu emphasised that Guru Teg Bahadur Ji’s life continues to inspire generations. She stated that his values of righteousness, humanity and truth show the way forward for a society rooted in harmony and collective strength. The President urged citizens to embrace these ideals in everyday life to build a more just and unified nation.
“The teachings of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji motivate us to walk the path of justice with determination and courage,” she noted, calling upon people of all faiths and communities to uphold the principles the Guru lived and died for. The President also highlighted the timeless relevance of Guru Ji’s message in preserving communal harmony and safeguarding pluralistic values.
Legacy of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji
Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru, is remembered for his deep spiritual wisdom, poetic compositions, and unwavering defence of the oppressed. His martyrdom in 1675 marked a turning point in the history of India’s struggle against tyranny. His supreme sacrifice is widely commemorated in gurdwaras, educational institutions and public spaces through prayers, kirtan and community service.
The Guru’s teachings emphasise resilience, humility, equality and spiritual steadfastness—a message that resonates across generations and communities. His contributions to Sikh philosophy, especially through verses included in the Guru Granth Sahib, continue to guide millions globally.
Nationwide Observances and Cultural Programs
Across India, preparations are underway for memorial events, spiritual gatherings and social service activities honouring his 350th martyrdom day. Several institutions are organising exhibitions, discourses and community meals (langar) reflecting Guru Ji’s emphasis on service and togetherness.
