President Murmu to Confer AI Certificates at SOAR Event

New Delhi: The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, will grace the SOAR – Skilling for AI Readiness programme on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre (RBCC), New Delhi. The initiative, part of the Skill India Mission, reflects the government’s commitment to preparing India’s workforce for an AI-driven future.

Key Dignitaries and Agenda

The event will be attended by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, and Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, along with other officials. President Murmu will confer Artificial Intelligence certificates to students, Members of Parliament, and learners from across India. The programme will also witness the launch of the national awareness campaign #SkillTheNation Challenge, aimed at promoting youth participation in future-ready skill programmes.

AI Learning and Collaboration

As part of the SOAR programme, MSDE will conduct a special “AI for Beginners” interactive learning module at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The session will be led by a globally renowned AI expert in collaboration with Google, the Ministry’s principal AI skilling partner. This initiative emphasizes accessible, relevant, and inclusive AI education for learners across the country.

IGNOU Regional Centre Virtual Inauguration

During the event, President Murmu will also virtually inaugurate the IGNOU Regional Centre at Rairangpur, Odisha. The centre aims to strengthen employability in northern Odisha through skill-oriented programmes, digital learning, and training support, reinforcing the government’s focus on enhancing regional skill development.

MSDE’s AI Skilling Vision

Artificial Intelligence is transforming workplaces and skill requirements across industries. MSDE has prioritized AI skilling through initiatives like SOAR to enable learners to acquire essential AI competencies aligned with emerging industry demands. By integrating AI education into national skill development efforts, the Ministry aims to equip youth with the tools to thrive in a technology-driven economy.
