President Murmu to Inaugurate International Conference on Unani Medicine in Delhi

President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate a two-day International Conference on Unani Medicine at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on February 11, coinciding with Unani Day. This annual event commemorates the birth anniversary of Hakim Ajmal Khan, a renowned Unani physician, educator, and freedom fighter. Organized by the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) under the Ministry of Ayush, the conference will focus on innovations in Unani medicine and its role in integrative healthcare solutions.

Union Minister of State for Ayush and Health, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, emphasized the growing global recognition of Unani medicine and the Indian government’s commitment to integrating traditional healthcare systems into mainstream medical practice. He highlighted the significance of innovation and collaboration in strengthening Unani medicine’s role in addressing modern health challenges. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, reiterated the government’s efforts in promoting scientific research in traditional medicine and integrating Ayush systems into national health policies.

The conference will provide a platform for discussions on advancements in Unani medicine, featuring expert-led sessions, keynote addresses, and scientific discussions. A special exhibition will showcase innovations in Unani pharmaceuticals, research, and education. Delegates from various countries, including the USA, Iran, South Africa, Malaysia, and Bangladesh, will participate, fostering global collaboration in traditional and integrative medicine.

Several key publications by CCRUM will be released during the event, along with NABL and NABH certification awards for institutions. A short video on recent Unani medicine initiatives will be launched, and awards will be presented for outstanding research contributions and institutional performance. This landmark event aims to highlight Unani medicine’s potential in holistic healthcare and its growing role in global health and well-being.
