President Murmu Urges EEPC to Make India Innovation Leader

New Delhi: The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, on September 8, 2025, graced the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) India in New Delhi. She highlighted the council’s pivotal role in strengthening India’s engineering exports and urged stakeholders to transform India into a leading innovation economy.

Reviving India’s Historical Trade Legacy

President Murmu emphasized that India historically led the world in both spirituality and trade. She called upon citizens and economic stakeholders alike to resolve to restore India as a global hub of knowledge and commerce. “EEPC, as a key economic stakeholder, must take this resolution forward with determination,” she stated.

Engineering Exports Reach New Heights

The President lauded the remarkable growth of India’s engineering exports over the past decade, rising from $70 billion to over $115 billion despite global trade challenges. She acknowledged EEPC’s contribution in bridging Indian producers with international markets, ensuring India’s competitive presence in the Global Value Chain.

Turning Global Challenges into Opportunities

Highlighting the evolving global trade and economic order, President Murmu urged EEPC to convert challenges into opportunities by leveraging India’s exceptional capabilities. Over the last seven decades, India’s engineering export destinations have transformed, and the President stressed that EEPC must continue driving this change while strengthening India’s economy with a ‘Nation First’ mindset.

Positioning India as a Global Innovation Centre

President Murmu noted that India’s strength lies in providing high-quality engineering services and products at competitive costs. With numerous Global Capability Centres of leading multinational companies based in India, she urged EEPC and other stakeholders to foster an ecosystem that turns India into a global innovation hub. “Innovation economies are the most competitive and prosperous,” she remarked, encouraging EEPC members to pledge towards making India a leading innovation economy by supporting domestic talent and entrepreneurship.
