Education for Social Good
President Murmu applauded CUTN’s efforts in supporting marginalized communities through its Community College and the Dr. Ambedkar Centre for Excellence. She stressed that education must serve both individual aspirations and collective societal needs. “Education should always be oriented towards the benefit of society,” she remarked.
She also encouraged collaboration between academia and industry to harness science and technology for sustainable development, with a special emphasis on enriching nature and ecology.
In her address, the President emphasized the importance of remaining a student throughout life. Quoting Mahatma Gandhi’s example of continuous learning—whether in languages, scriptures, or practical skills—she urged students to stay curious. “Continuous learning will keep your skills relevant and in demand,” she noted.
She reminded graduates that a sense of wonder and curiosity helps individuals adapt to new challenges and remain engaged throughout their lives.
Adapting to a Changing World
Reflecting on the rapid changes brought about by the internet revolution, President Murmu said many professions that exist today were unimaginable a few decades ago. With Artificial Intelligence and the Fourth Industrial Revolution reshaping work cultures, she emphasized adaptability as the key to success. “Those who can learn and re-learn will become leaders of change,” she stated.
She further noted that CUTN’s mission to nurture strong character and ethical work practices is vital in this context. Ethical values, she said, must extend beyond the workplace into every sphere of life, fostering the sensitivity that society urgently needs.
Encouragement for the Youth
The President’s address was not only a message for CUTN’s graduates but also a broader reminder for India’s youth to pursue education with responsibility. She encouraged them to stay open to change, embrace new skills, and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress.
