President Murmu Urges Peace at UN Army Chiefs’ Conclave

New Delhi: President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, welcomed the Chiefs and Vice-Chiefs of Army from United Nations Troop Contributing Countries at Rashtrapati Bhavan on October 16, 2025. Speaking at the Army Chiefs’ Conclave, she emphasized the shared responsibility of safeguarding peace, protecting vulnerable populations, and fostering global harmony.

India’s Commitment to UN Peacekeeping

President Murmu highlighted India’s longstanding role in UN peacekeeping operations, noting that Indian peacekeepers have served with distinction in some of the world’s most challenging missions. She commended their courage, dedication, and compassion, particularly in safeguarding women, children, and the elderly in conflict zones.

“As the largest democracy, India believes in multilateralism and adherence to the UN Charter. Our peacekeepers have not only contributed to security but also fostered trust and gender inclusion in host communities,” she said, praising the increasing participation of women in peacekeeping roles.

Collective Responsibility for Global Peace

Addressing the international delegation, the President urged troop contributing countries to create frameworks that give them a stronger voice and encourage participative engagement with local communities. She stressed that peace should be nurtured, not merely enforced, through collaboration and mutual understanding.

Vision for a Safer World

President Murmu expressed her aspiration for a world where every child sleeps safely, every community thrives in harmony, and conflicts are consigned to history. She said the Army Chiefs’ Conclave provides a platform to exchange ideas, strengthen cooperation, and build enduring friendships among peacekeeping nations.

The event also included spouses of the participating chiefs, reflecting the inclusive nature of the conclave. The meeting highlighted India’s proactive role in advancing multilateral security, peace, and humanitarian values globally.
