President Murmu’s Republic Day 2026 Address: Vision for Viksit Bharat

RR Team, January 25, 2026January 25, 2026
President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu addressed the nation on the eve of Republic Day 2026, reflecting on India’s constitutional journey while outlining a forward-looking vision rooted in democracy, unity, inclusive development and national self-reliance. Extending greetings to citizens in India and abroad, the President described Republic Day as an occasion to assess the country’s past achievements and future direction.

She recalled that with the enforcement of the Constitution on January 26, 1950, India emerged as a sovereign democratic republic, guided by the ideals of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. The Constitution, she said, remains the foundation of the world’s largest democracy.

National Unity, Heritage and Democratic Spirit

The President paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose leadership unified the nation, noting that celebrations marking his 150th birth anniversary have strengthened the spirit of national unity. She also highlighted ongoing commemorations of 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’, describing the national song as a source of inspiration and patriotism.

Recalling Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary celebrated as Parakram Diwas, she said his slogan ‘Jai Hind’ remains a declaration of India’s national pride.

Tribute to Citizens Driving the Republic

President Murmu acknowledged the contribution of soldiers, security forces, farmers, healthcare workers, sanitation staff, teachers, scientists, entrepreneurs and artists in nation-building. She praised the youth for strengthening faith in India’s future and appreciated overseas Indians for enhancing the country’s global image.

She underlined that citizens working across government and non-government sectors are collectively advancing the progress of the Republic.

Democracy, Women Empowerment and Social Inclusion

Marking National Voters’ Day, the President highlighted the growing political awareness of citizens and the increasing participation of women voters. She said women-led development is essential for India’s progress and noted the impact of initiatives such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.

She cited achievements by Indian women in sports, entrepreneurship, self-help groups and governance, and said the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam would further strengthen political empowerment. Nearly 46 percent representation of women in Panchayati Raj institutions reflects this transformation, she added.

Focus on Tribal Welfare, Farmers and the Poor

The President highlighted initiatives for tribal communities, including Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, health and education programmes, and welfare schemes such as PM-JANMAN. She said these efforts are bridging tradition with modern development.

Calling farmers the backbone of the nation, she stressed the importance of fair pricing, modern agricultural practices and schemes like PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. She also highlighted poverty alleviation efforts through PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, which supports nearly 81 crore beneficiaries.

Youth Power, Economy and National Security

President Murmu said India’s young population is driving innovation, entrepreneurship and global competitiveness. Platforms like MY Bharat are connecting youth with opportunities in leadership and skills development.

She noted that India remains the fastest-growing major economy and is progressing towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy. She highlighted infrastructure expansion, GST reforms and labour codes as key drivers. On national security, she said Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s defence preparedness and self-reliance.

Environment, Culture and Vision Ahead

Emphasising environmental protection, the President reiterated India’s global leadership through the ‘Lifestyle for Environment’ initiative. She said peace remains central to India’s worldview.

Concluding her address, President Murmu called upon citizens to work together with the spirit of ‘Nation First’ to build a developed, inclusive and confident India.
