Prime Minister’s Visit to Bihar on April 24 Brings Major Development Boost and Empowerment Initiatives

RR Team, April 23, 2025April 24, 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bihar on April 24, bringing with him a wave of development and welfare initiatives aimed at uplifting rural communities and enhancing the state’s infrastructure. His visit to Madhubani, where he will participate in the National Panchayati Raj Day programme, holds special significance as it highlights the government’s commitment to grassroots governance and rural empowerment.

‍

In a gesture that recognizes the tireless efforts of local governing bodies, the Prime Minister will present the National Panchayat Awards, honouring the best-performing Panchayats across the country. This is more than a ceremonial event—it is a reaffirmation of the vital role that Panchayats play in building a strong and self-reliant India.

The visit will also see the launch and foundation laying of a series of transformative projects worth over Rs 13,480 crore. Among them is an LPG bottling plant with a rail unloading facility at Hathua in Gopalganj District, a Rs 340 crore investment that is expected to streamline the LPG supply chain and significantly improve distribution efficiency across the region.

Power infrastructure in Bihar is set for a major upgrade, with the Prime Minister initiating projects worth over Rs 1,170 crore and inaugurating completed works worth more than Rs 5,030 crore under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme. These measures aim to ensure more reliable electricity access, especially in rural and underserved areas.

Rail connectivity, often seen as the lifeline of development, is receiving a big push. The Prime Minister will flag off the Amrit Bharat Express between Saharsa and Mumbai and the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail between Jaynagar and Patna. Additional train services between Pipra and Saharsa, and between Saharsa and Samastipur, will also be launched. Several key infrastructure additions—including the inauguration of the Supaul-Pipra and Hasanpur-Bithan rail lines, and two rail overbridges at Chapra and Bagaha—are poised to enhance mobility and spur economic growth. The dedication of the Khagaria-Alauli rail line to the nation underscores this push for inclusive development.

On the social welfare front, the Prime Minister will distribute benefits worth approximately Rs 930 crore under the Community Investment Fund to over two lakh Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Bihar under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). This initiative is designed to strengthen community institutions and improve livelihoods, especially for women in rural areas.

In a deeply impactful moment for thousands of families, sanction letters will be handed over to 15 lakh new beneficiaries of the PMAY-Gramin housing scheme. Additionally, instalments will be released for 10 lakh beneficiaries nationwide, and the Prime Minister will personally hand over house keys to mark the ‘Grih Pravesh’ (housewarming) of one lakh PMAY-G homes and 54,000 PMAY-Urban homes in Bihar.

The Prime Minister’s visit is not just a reflection of administrative progress—it carries with it a message of hope, inclusion, and empowerment for the people of Bihar.
