PRS 2024: Transforming Indian Education for All

RR Team, July 31, 2025July 31, 2025

India is stepping into a new era of education—an era focused not just on enrollment, but on real learning outcomes and skill development.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared an article celebrating the release of PRS 2024, a bold and scientific blueprint for strengthening education across districts. In his post, he emphasized that the time has come to move beyond numbers and focus on what truly matters—how well children are learning.

What is PRS 2024?

PRS 2024, short for Progressive Report on Schooling 2024, is a comprehensive framework that analyses student progress at a granular, district level. It provides a powerful, data-backed roadmap to ensure that learning is both inclusive and linked to practical skills.

This isn’t just another report—it’s a call to action. Built on scientific research and field-level evidence, PRS 2024 enables decision-makers, educators, and communities to track, understand, and improve real learning outcomes across India.

PM Modi’s Message: A Shift from Enrollment to Learning

Sharing the article on social media, the PMO India account quoted Shri Modi’s view:

“India is redefining its education system beyond enrollment to focus on real learning. PRS 2024 provides scientific insights into student progress and lays out a roadmap for evidence-based, district-level action to build an inclusive, skill-linked education ecosystem.”

This vision aligns perfectly with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP), which emphasizes critical thinking, foundational literacy, and future-ready skills.

Union Minister Jayant Chaudhury’s Reflections

Union Minister Shri Jayant Chaudhury also shared insights on PRS 2024, explaining how it connects learning with life skills and job-readiness. He stressed the importance of customizing educational strategies for each district based on local needs, demographics, and student performance.

“It’s not one-size-fits-all anymore,” he noted. “PRS 2024 empowers every district to act independently with the right tools and evidence.”

Why PRS 2024 Is a Game-Changer

1. Data-Driven Decision Making: PRS 2024 uses real-time learning data to track progress across districts. It pinpoints gaps and helps schools take timely corrective actions.

2. Localized Planning: Every district can now develop its own roadmap based on actual needs, not assumptions. This means targeted teacher training, curriculum improvements, and infrastructure upgrades.

3. Inclusive Learning: The framework focuses on children from marginalized backgrounds, ensuring that no one is left behind in the learning journey.

4. Skill-Linked Education: PRS 2024 integrates vocational awareness and life skills into mainstream education, preparing students for a changing job market.

Real Learning, Not Just Attendance

India has made remarkable progress in getting children into schools. But the bigger challenge is ensuring that they actually learn. According to NAS 2021 findings, over 50% of Class 5 students in many states still struggle with basic math and reading.

PRS 2024 tackles this problem head-on. By shifting the focus to learning outcomes, it ensures that education isn’t just symbolic—it’s meaningful.

District-Level Action: The Heart of the Plan

One of the most unique aspects of PRS 2024 is its decentralization. The goal is to empower district education officers, school heads, and local communities to lead change. Real transformation happens on the ground—not just from Delhi.

This approach strengthens accountability and promotes innovation at the grassroots level. Schools can now measure progress, intervene when needed, and celebrate real success.

Where We Go From Here

PRS 2024 is not the end—it’s the beginning of a new mindset in Indian education. With PM Modi’s backing and collaboration from state governments, NGOs, and local communities, this framework can reshape the future of millions of children.

It’s time we stop asking “How many children are in school?” and start asking, “How much are they learning?”

Conclusion: Building a Future-Ready India

Education is more than textbooks and grades. It’s about empowerment. With PRS 2024, India is on the path to build an inclusive, skill-linked, and learning-focused education system.

The message is clear. Real learning is the new benchmark. PRS 2024 is the blueprint. And India is ready to transform.
