Cabinet Clears Pune Metro Phase-2 Corridors

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the Pune Metro Rail Project Phase-2. This includes two major extensions:

Both corridors are elevated stretches, forming an extension to the existing Vanaz–Ramwadi Corridor (Phase-1). Together, they span 12.75 km and will feature 13 stations, connecting fast-growing suburbs and IT clusters.

Connecting the East and West of Pune

The two corridors will connect residential, commercial, and educational zones including Bavdhan, Kothrud, Kharadi, and Wagholi. This expansion is part of the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP), which aims to build an East–West transit spine across Pune.

It aligns with the city’s long-term vision to reduce dependency on private transport, cut emissions, and decongest arterial roads like Paud Road and Nagar Road.


Multimodal Integration for Seamless Commute
