The Raksha Mantri stressed the importance of using indigenous weapons, saying self-reliance is both a necessity and a hallmark of India’s defense strategy. He cited that domestic defense production has increased from Rs 46,000 crore in 2014 to Rs 1.51 lakh crore today, while exports surged from less than Rs 1,000 crore to approximately Rs 24,000 crore. The government, led by PM Narendra Modi, is equipping the Armed Forces with state-of-the-art, indigenous weapons tailored to national requirements.

Unity, Peacekeeping, and National Integration

He noted that soldiers from diverse cultural backgrounds unite for a common goal, contributing to national integration and acting as a pillar of nation-building. He highlighted the army’s role in UN Peacekeeping Missions, delivering medical aid, infrastructure support, and humanitarian assistance abroad, reinforcing India’s philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.

Women and Youth in Armed Forces

Raksha Mantri emphasized the growing role of women in the Armed Forces, noting that Permanent Commission and NDA admission for women have expanded opportunities. He appealed to the youth to develop mental, moral, and leadership qualities required to serve, and urged citizens to support soldiers’ families and uphold national unity.
