Rajnath Singh Visits HMAS Kuttabul, Co-chairs Defence Talks

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh visited the strategic naval base HMAS Kuttabul in Sydney, Australia, on October 10, 2025, highlighting the growing defence ties between India and Australia. Accompanied by Australia’s Assistant Minister of Defence, Mr Peter Khalil, the Raksha Mantri toured the state-of-the-art facilities and was briefed aboard Admiral Hudson at Sydney Harbour.
The visit emphasised the significance of enhanced maritime cooperation, particularly in Maritime Domain Awareness across the Indo-Pacific region. Both leaders underscored the potential for India and Australia to benefit from closer naval collaboration.

Maiden India-Australia Defence Industry Business Roundtable

Later in the day, Shri Rajnath Singh co-chaired the first-ever India-Australia Defence Industry Business Roundtable with Mr Peter Khalil, aiming to boost industrial partnerships and defence capabilities. Discussions focused on joint projects in defence technology, innovation, and manufacturing, aligning with India’s Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.

Top industry representatives from both countries attended, expressing keen interest in collaboration and investment opportunities. The roundtable marked a strategic step towards strengthening the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in defence and technology sectors.

Interaction with Indian Community in Sydney

In the evening, Shri Rajnath Singh addressed members of the Indian community in Sydney at an event hosted by the Consulate General of India. He lauded their contributions in strengthening cultural and economic ties between India and Australia, highlighting the community’s role as a bridge between the two nations.

The Raksha Mantri’s second day in Australia showcased India’s commitment to deepening defence cooperation, promoting industrial collaboration, and engaging with its overseas community. Observers noted that such initiatives are pivotal in reinforcing strategic and people-to-people ties.
