Rajnath Singh Warns Pakistan on Sir Creek Build-Up

RR Team, October 3, 2025October 2, 2025
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday delivered a sharp warning to Pakistan over its recent military activities near the Sir Creek region, asserting that any misadventure would invite a decisive response strong enough to “change both history and geography.” His remarks, made during the Shashtra Pujan ceremony in Gujarat, came amid growing concerns in India about Pakistani troop movements and infrastructure expansion in the sensitive border zone.

Sir Creek Tensions Resurface

Singh accused Pakistan of deliberately escalating the long-standing Sir Creek dispute, despite India’s repeated attempts to resolve it through dialogue. He pointed out that the recent expansion of Pakistani military infrastructure along the Gujarat coastline reveals Islamabad’s intent. Sir Creek, a 96-kilometre marshy strip in the Rann of Kutch, remains a disputed area between India and Pakistan since independence.

“Even after 78 years of independence, Pakistan continues to stir up this dispute. The Indian Army and BSF are jointly guarding our borders with full vigilance. If Pakistan tries any misadventure in Sir Creek, it will face a decisive response,” Singh said. He further cautioned, “Pakistan should remember — one route to Karachi passes through the Creek.”

Historical Reminder: The 1965 War

The Defence Minister invoked history, recalling the 1965 India-Pakistan war when Indian forces advanced up to Lahore. “In 1965, the Indian Army demonstrated its capability to reach Lahore. Today, Pakistan must remember that one route to Karachi also passes through the Creek,” Singh warned, underscoring India’s military preparedness.

Operation Sindoor Reference

In Bhuj, Singh addressed soldiers and highlighted the significance of Operation Sindoor, a recent military exercise that exposed Pakistan’s vulnerabilities. He revealed that Pakistan unsuccessfully attempted to breach India’s defence systems from Leh to Sir Creek but was firmly countered.

“During Operation Sindoor, Pakistan tried to penetrate our defences, but Indian forces retaliated effectively and exposed Pakistan’s air defence system. The world has seen that India can inflict heavy losses on its adversaries whenever and wherever necessary,” he said.

India’s Firm Stand Against Cross-Border Terrorism

Singh reiterated that India’s fight against cross-border terrorism will continue unabated. He stressed that New Delhi is committed to defending its territorial integrity and sovereignty. His remarks come as security agencies report heightened Pakistani troop activity near the maritime border, raising concerns of renewed hostilities.

Observers believe Singh’s statement serves both as a stern message to Pakistan and reassurance to Indian citizens that the nation’s armed forces remain fully capable of defending its frontiers.
