Raksha Mantri Emphasizes Mental and Spiritual Strength for Soldiers at Brahma Kumaris Event

RR Team, April 21, 2025April 21, 2025

In a heartfelt address at the Brahma Kumaris Headquarters in Mount Abu, Rajasthan on April 21, 2025, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh underscored the crucial need for India’s soldiers to be not only combat-ready but also mentally resilient and spiritually empowered. Speaking with deep empathy for the men and women who serve the nation, he stressed that in today’s rapidly changing landscape of warfare—where battles are increasingly fought in cyber, space, information, and psychological domains—mental strength and spiritual awareness have become as important as physical prowess.

Acknowledging the immense pressure faced by soldiers deployed in challenging environments, Shri Singh highlighted the invisible wounds that prolonged stress and uncertainty can leave behind. “A soldier draws strength not just from weapons or physical training, but from a powerful inner self,” he said, calling for a holistic approach to military preparedness that includes mental and emotional well-being.

He lauded the Brahma Kumaris’ ongoing campaign to support the mental health of soldiers, describing it as a timely and commendable initiative. The campaign, centered around the theme ‘Self-Empowerment – Through Inner Awakening’, seeks to provide tools such as meditation, yoga, positive thinking, and self-reflection to help servicemen and women find inner peace and clarity. Shri Singh stated that such practices nurture the seed of self-transformation, which in turn leads to national transformation.

“Spirituality and yoga, deeply embedded in India’s cultural heritage, offer powerful means to counter stress, anxiety, and emotional strain,” he noted, emphasizing that strong and self-aware soldiers serve as beacons of hope and courage for the entire nation. Their strength radiates not only on the battlefield but also in moments of crisis, lighting the way forward for the country.

In a significant step to further this cause, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, and the Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation of Brahma Kumaris. The agreement aims to guide beneficiaries of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) toward better mental health practices, thereby reducing dependency on medications and enhancing overall well-being.

The Raksha Mantri praised the Security Service Wing of Brahma Kumaris for its tireless efforts to uplift the spirit of India’s security forces through specialized programmes and outreach activities. He concluded with a hopeful message, envisioning a future where protecting both the borders and the inner self go hand in hand—ensuring not just the safety of the nation, but also the wellness of those who serve it with unwavering dedication.
