In a gesture of deep respect and enduring friendship, Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth participated in the Victory Day celebrations held in Moscow, Russia, from May 8 to 9, 2025. The occasion marked the 80th anniversary of the Soviet people’s valiant triumph in the Second World War—a milestone that continues to resonate with the spirit of resilience and sacrifice.
Shri Sanjay Seth laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, paying homage to the countless lives lost during one of the darkest chapters in world history. He also attended the grand Victory Day Parade, joining dignitaries from across the globe in a solemn and proud tribute to the bravery and unity that defined the wartime resistance. His presence at the celebration was a reflection of the strong and time-tested strategic partnership between India and Russia.
During his visit, Shri Sanjay Seth had the honour of meeting Russian President Mr. Vladimir Putin, to whom he conveyed heartfelt congratulations on the significant anniversary. Their interaction underscored the mutual respect and shared historical ties that bind the two nations.
In a separate meeting with Russian Deputy Defence Minister Colonel General Alexander Fomin, the Raksha Rajya Mantri expressed India’s deep gratitude for Russia’s continued support in combating the persistent threat of state-sponsored cross-border terrorism. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening military and technical cooperation, agreeing to enhance their collaboration through existing institutional mechanisms and regular consultations.
In a warm and personal gesture, Shri Sanjay Seth also met with members of the Indian community at the Embassy of India in Moscow. The interaction served as a reminder of the cultural and emotional bonds that connect the Indian diaspora to their homeland, and the shared sense of pride they carry on such momentous occasions.
