Bundi, May 22, 2025 — In a significant stride towards building a modern, connected, and culturally rooted India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually inaugurated the redeveloped Bundi Railway Station from Bikaner, Rajasthan. The redevelopment has been carried out under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, a visionary initiative to transform railway stations across the nation. Lok Sabha Speaker and local MP Om Birla, who attended the event in Bundi, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister on behalf of the people of the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Birla described the new Bundi Railway Station as a shining symbol of India’s progress. He emphasized that this transformation is not just about infrastructure—it reflects a deeper change in national outlook, driven by a commitment to blend modernity with heritage. “This station is now a gateway to both convenience and culture,” he said, acknowledging the Prime Minister’s focus on inclusive development.
Highlighting the broader impact of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Shri Birla noted that railway stations across the country are being reimagined as vibrant, passenger-friendly spaces. These new stations are equipped with world-class amenities, but more importantly, they reflect a renewed vision of development rooted in local identity. Bundi, long known for its rich history and architecture, is now poised to take a major leap forward in the tourism sector.
Over the past decade, the region has seen considerable improvement in rail connectivity. Shri Birla pointed out that major and suburban stations in the Kota–Bundi area have undergone significant upgrades. The introduction of new train services and MEMU trains has eased travel for thousands. Importantly, the decision to have the Vande Bharat Express halt at Bundi is expected to boost tourist inflow. Additionally, better connectivity through 14 trains halting at stations like Kota, Ramganj Mandi, Modak, Keshoraipatan, Kapren, Digod, and Arnetha has further empowered local residents.
The redevelopment of Bundi Railway Station, completed at a cost of ₹8.15 crore, is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. With a grand entrance gate, beautifully designed façade, high-mast lighting, and spacious waiting rooms, the station offers a welcoming environment to travelers. New ticket counters, modern sanitary facilities, and accessible ramps ensure comfort for all, including differently-abled passengers.
More than just a railway station, the redeveloped Bundi terminal stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to balanced growth—honoring the past while stepping boldly into the future. It represents hope, opportunity, and a new identity for Bundi and its people.
