Rekha Gupta Rejects Sheesh Mahal, Vows Transparency

RR Team, July 6, 2025July 6, 2025

‘Neend Nahi Aati in Sheesh Mahal’

Appearing on Rajat Sharma’s iconic show Aap Ki Adalat, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta made headlines by firmly stating she refused to move into the extravagant bungalow built by Arvind Kejriwal.“Neend nahin aati. How can I live in luxury when the people of Delhi are suffering?” she said, describing the multi-crore “Sheesh Mahal” as a symbol of disconnection and extravagance.

Gupta criticized Kejriwal for spending ₹80 crore of taxpayer money on a residence while ignoring pressing civic issues.

Open Doors, Not Closed Curtain

Taking a swipe at the former CM, Gupta said, “Woh pardey bhi nahin kholte they. No one could meet him. My home will remain open to the public.”

Currently staying in a renovated bungalow on Raj Niwas Marg, she plans to shift there during Navratri. A special havan and pooja were performed as part of the preparations.

What Will Happen to Sheesh Mahal?

On being asked about the fate of Sheesh Mahal, Gupta replied, “We will try to recover the money and use it for public welfare.”

She emphasized accountability and a push to transform government resources for people’s benefit, not personal comfort.

Mohalla Clinics Were a Scam

Calling the Mohalla Clinic scheme a “fraud,” Gupta revealed that doctors were paid per patient, creating an incentive for inflated numbers rather than genuine treatment.

“There were no medicines or vaccinations,” she said, comparing it to her government’s Aarogya Mandir initiative—fully staffed primary health centers offering tests and treatment.

Slum Dwellers Deserve Real Homes

Reacting to Kejriwal’s claim that removing slums would make people “remember their naani,” Gupta hit back: “Why should I remember my Naani?”

She noted that in 27 years, neither Congress nor AAP provided permanent housing for slum dwellers. “We are preparing a transparent policy to provide better homes for those in need,” she assured.

Yamuna Clean-Up Plan in Action

Gupta highlighted a ₹9,000 crore Yamuna Action Plan that includes revamping STPs, trapping drains, and inter-state coordination. “We’re not wasting a moment,” she said, calling the river’s cleanup a top priority.

Permanent Jobs Over Political Gimmicks

She also criticized Kejriwal’s civil defence recruitment spree, where people were paid ₹1,000 per day to hold placards. “Even engineers don’t earn that much,” she pointed out.

Her government plans to give permanent appointment letters to 1,500 nurses on July 6, a first in 20 years.

Pollution Control & Old Vehicles

Responding to concerns over fuel bans for older vehicles, Gupta said the order was from CAQM and not her government. “We’ll take this up with courts and ensure justice for middle-class families,” she said.
