SAIL Opens Dubai Office to Boost Global Steel Exports

RR Team, July 5, 2025July 4, 2025

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has taken a big step in its global journey. It has opened its first international representative office in Dubai. This move marks a new chapter in SAIL’s expansion strategy.

The office was inaugurated on July 4, 2025, by Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy. He was joined by top officials, including SAIL CMD Amarendu Prakash, Consul General of India to Dubai Shri Satish Kumar Sivan, and leaders from NMDC, MECON, and the Ministry of Steel.

Why Dubai?

Dubai is a global trade hub. Its location and infrastructure make it ideal for expanding into the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The city offers easy access to emerging steel markets.

With this office, SAIL can directly connect with buyers, suppliers, and investors in the region. This will help boost exports and build lasting partnerships.

Aligned with India’s Steel Goals

This expansion supports India’s National Steel Policy, which aims for 300 million tonnes of production by 2030. SAIL’s presence in Dubai will help it understand international demand and respond quickly to changes.

It also shows India’s strong push to grow in the global steel industry.

What Leaders Said

Minister Kumaraswamy praised SAIL’s move. He said the Dubai office is a symbol of India’s rising global ambitions in steel and heavy industries.

SAIL CMD Amarendu Prakash added that being close to international clients will improve service, drive growth, and open new markets.

SAIL’s Rising Global Profile

SAIL is one of India’s largest steel producers. It has over 20 million tonnes of annual crude steel capacity. The company plays a key role in infrastructure, defence, and energy projects.

With the Dubai office, SAIL aims to serve growing demand in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and other MENA countries. This also supports the India-UAE trade partnership, especially under the India-UAE CEPA signed in 2022.

Conclusion: India’s Steel Story Goes Global

This is more than just an office opening. It’s a clear message that India is ready to lead in global steel. SAIL’s Dubai office will drive exports, create strong partnerships, and strengthen India’s role in the world market.

As India pushes forward with its steel vision for 2030, this move sets the tone for more international milestones ahead.
