Sardar Patel March: Anand Rally Boosts Viksit Bharat Drive

RR Team, November 28, 2025November 28, 2025
The Sardar@150 National Unity March continued through Anand district on Day 2, drawing thousands of youth and local residents in a day of wellness, environment action and cultural remembrance. Organised by Mera Yuva Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, the march combined public participation with events that celebrated Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy and advanced the message of Ek Bharat, Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Morning Momentum: Yoga and Community Planting

The day began with a mass yog shivir at Napad, where volunteers, padyatris and residents practised guided yoga to promote wellness and unity. The early session set a brisk pace for the 15.7 km route that followed, supporting stamina and community spirit among participants.

Participants then gathered at Smriti Van for “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam,” a symbolic plantation drive aimed at raising environmental awareness and encouraging local greening efforts. MY Bharat volunteers remained deployed along the entire route, providing hydration, coordination and safety support for the padyatris.

Route and Participation

The padyatra traversed Napad Bus Stop, Anand–Umeta Road, Khadol and Asodar before reaching Mujkuva and concluding at Anklav Bus Station. Thousands of citizens, students and local volunteers joined the march, turning the route into a moving forum for civic engagement and local culture.

Sardar Gatha and Local Honours

A key cultural highlight was the Sardar Gatha held at Asodar – ITI Anklav on the theme “Sardar: Gandhi’s Steadfast Companion.” The programme opened with deep pragtya (lamp lighting) followed by a sanman samaroh to honour local contributors, artisans and workers who preserve regional crafts and social traditions.

Dignitaries and Messages

Distinguished guests on the dais included Shri R. N. Ravi, Governor of Tamil Nadu; Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying; Shri B. L. Verma, Union MoS for Consumer Affairs and Social Justice; and Smt. Darshana Jardosh, Minister of State.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Shri R. N. Ravi paid homage to Sardar Patel’s leadership and recalled historic initiatives such as Operation Sindoor and Dharm Dhvaj as demonstrations of national unity. He urged citizens to adopt the Prime Minister’s Viksit Bharat@2047 vision with personal resolve  “sankalp” stressing that development depends on every citizen’s commitment.

Exhibitions and Cultural Evening

At Anklav Bus Station an exhibition titled “Sardar as Mayor – Building Modern Ahmedabad” showcased archival materials that illuminate Patel’s role in civic reform and urban modernisation. The displays offered residents a closer look at his administrative foresight.

The day concluded with a Gram Sabha followed by a traditional Dayro, featuring folk music, storytelling and local performances that strengthened community bonds and celebrated Gujarat’s cultural heritage.

Significance and Next Steps

The Sardar@150 March forms part of nationwide commemorations for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary. Through padyatras, cultural programmes and youth-led initiatives, MY Bharat and the Ministry seek to kindle a spirit of unity and nation-building among citizens.

Organisers said Day 3 will begin at the Hare Krishna Temple, Anklav, and proceed towards Aarana Lawns, Sevasi, promising more public engagements and cultural programmes as the march advances.
