Sardar@150 Unity March Inspires Youth for Nation-Building

RR Team, October 7, 2025October 7, 2025
New Delhi, October 7: Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, launched the Sardar@150 Unity March in New Delhi on Monday to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. The nationwide two-month campaign, led by MY Bharat, aims to foster unity, patriotism, and civic responsibility among the youth.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Mandaviya said the initiative was “not merely a commemoration but a national movement to engage youth in nation-building and advance the vision of a Viksit and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.” He called upon young Indians to imbibe the ideology and spirit of Sardar Patel, who united over 560 princely states to create a strong and united India.

Tribute to the Iron Man of India

The Government of India will mark Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary through a two-year celebration (2024–2026) under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The campaign will include a series of events highlighting Sardar Patel’s life, leadership, and his role in forging national unity.

Dr. Mandaviya emphasized that the Unity March would be “by the youth and for the youth,” with all preparations managed by volunteers from the National Service Scheme (NSS) and MY Bharat. He urged young people to adopt selfless service, unity, and discipline—qualities exemplified by Sardar Patel—to help realize the dream of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.

Three Phases of the Sardar@150 Unity March

The campaign will unfold in three distinct phases—digital, district, and national—each designed to maximize participation and awareness across India.

Phase I: Digital Outreach

Starting October 6, 2025, the Digital Phase features online competitions such as essay writing, social media reels, and a Sardar@150 Young Leaders Program Quiz for youth aged 15–29. Winners will be announced ahead of the national padyatra on November 26. Registrations are available through the MY Bharat portal.

Phase II: District-Level Padyatras

From October 31 to November 25, 2025, three-day padyatras will be held in every parliamentary constituency, led by MPs, ministers, and community leaders. The walks—spanning 8–10 km daily—will showcase India’s diverse culture and promote unity. Activities will include Swachhata drives, health camps, and youth debates on national integration and civic responsibility.

Phase III: National Padyatra

The concluding phase, a national padyatra, will begin on November 26 (Constitution Day) from Karamsad—Sardar Patel’s birthplace—and conclude on December 6, 2025 at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia. Dr. Mandaviya will join the march alongside 150 selected young leaders. Each day will feature “Sardar Gatha” sessions sharing inspirational stories from Patel’s life.

Inspiring the Amrit Peedhi

  1. Dr. Mandaviya described the initiative as a youth-led movement that will nurture India’s “Amrit Peedhi”—the generation responsible for building a self-reliant and united India. He expressed confidence that every young Indian would draw inspiration from Sardar Patel’s leadership and contribute to strengthening the nation.
