Scindia Chairs Q3 Review to Accelerate India Post Growth

RR Team, January 22, 2026January 22, 2026
Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia on Thursday chaired a high-level Quarterly Business Review meeting to accelerate India Post’s transition into a modern, parcel- and logistics-driven organisation.
The Quarter 3 (Q3) review for FY 2025–26 was convened by the Department of Posts in New Delhi, bringing together senior officers of the Postal Services Board and Heads of Circles from across the country. The meeting focused on evaluating performance across key business verticals and identifying corrective measures to sustain growth momentum.

At the outset, the Union Minister outlined India Post’s ambitious revenue target of ₹17,546 crore for FY 2025–26, significantly higher than the previous financial year. He noted that the organisation has already achieved ₹10,155 crore during the first three quarters, placing it on a strong trajectory towards meeting the target.

Shift Towards Parcels and Logistics

Emphasising India Post’s evolving business model, Shri Scindia said the current progress reflects a strategic shift towards becoming a parcel- and logistics-driven organisation. This transition aligns with the rapid expansion of e-commerce, integrated supply chains and growing demand for reliable last-mile delivery.

However, the Minister observed that despite positive overall trends, core verticals such as Parcels, Mail and International Mail underperformed during Q3. Stressing that these segments form the backbone of future growth, he asserted that parcels and mail must begin “firing on all cylinders” to unlock India Post’s full potential.

Focus on High-Potential Circles

Major circles including Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Delhi were singled out for urgent action, as they together account for nearly 60 per cent of India Post’s potential business volume. The Minister directed these circles to quickly replicate proven best practices to drive volume and efficiency.

A detailed circle-wise review highlighted notable performers. Rajasthan emerged as the best-performing circle overall, achieving 82 per cent of its Q3 targets. Karnataka led the Post Office Savings Bank segment with 112 per cent achievement, while Delhi recorded an exceptional 240 per cent performance in Citizen Centric Services.

Vertical-Wise Performance Snapshot

In the Citizen Centric Services vertical, Maharashtra and Rajasthan followed Delhi with 166 per cent and 165 per cent achievements respectively. Uttar Pradesh topped the Postal Life Insurance segment with 129 per cent performance, while Rajasthan achieved 153 per cent in mail operations.

Reviewing growth trends across verticals, the Union Minister commended Citizen Centric Services for registering a remarkable 95 per cent growth over Q3 of the previous year. Parcels grew by 12 per cent, Postal Life Insurance by 11 per cent and the Post Office Savings Bank by 7 per cent.

Strategic Partnerships and New Initiatives

Highlighting key initiatives, Shri Scindia noted that India Post is strengthening its parcel business through partnerships with major e-commerce and logistics platforms such as Amazon and Shiprocket. These tie-ups are expected to significantly boost volumes and improve service reliability.

Government-to-Government services are also expanding, with memoranda of understanding signed with the Ministry of Agriculture for pesticide verification and the Ministry of Rural Development to support Self Help Groups. In the financial sector, collaborations with AMFI, BSE and NSE are reinforcing India Post’s role as a trusted last-mile institution.

Roadmap for Q4 and Beyond

Looking ahead, the Union Minister directed immediate peer learning and benchmarking, urging underperforming circles to adopt best practices from top performers such as Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan and Telangana. He called for focused presentations on Parcels, Mail, Citizen Centric Services and Insurance segments, with clear accountability and measurable outcomes.

Shri Scindia highlighted that India Post’s revenue of ₹10,155 crore in the first three quarters represents an 8.2 per cent year-on-year growth compared to the same period last year. He reiterated the organisation’s goal of becoming a profit centre within the next four to five years through sustained revenue growth and efficiency improvements.

Confidence in Q4 Performance

Emphasising the historical significance of the fourth quarter, the Minister noted that Q4 alone contributed nearly ₹4,500 crore in the previous financial year. He expressed confidence that a similar uplift could help India Post approach its ambitious FY26 target, provided parcels and mail emerge as strong growth engines.

Concluding the review, Shri Scindia commended the dedication of India Post employees nationwide and reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to citizen-centric service delivery under the ethos of “Dak Sewa, Jan Sewa.” He stressed disciplined execution and leadership as key to aligning India Post with the national vision of Viksit Bharat.
