Security at Maha Kumbh 2025: Ensuring a Safe and Divine Experience

The Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj is set to be the world’s largest cultural and spiritual gathering, with over 450 million devotees anticipated. To ensure a safe and seamless experience, the Uttar Pradesh government has implemented extensive security measures. Intelligence systems, checkpoints, and dedicated squads are in place to maintain vigilance in and around Maha Kumbh Nagar, Prayagraj, and adjoining districts. A robust emergency management plan has also been formulated to uphold the sanctity and safety of this monumental event.

Fire Safety: Advanced Measures

The Uttar Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services Department has taken extensive steps to ensure fire safety, deploying four advanced articulating water towers (AWTs) to handle fire incidents in the expansive tent city.

Key Features of AWTs:

Equipped with video and thermal imaging cameras.

Operates at heights of up to 35 meters and horizontal distances of 30 meters.

Serves as a protective shield for firefighters during emergencies.

The ₹131.48 crore fire safety budget has also enabled the deployment of 351 firefighting vehicles, 50+ fire stations, 20 fire posts, and over 2,000 trained personnel.

Hi-Tech Security Infrastructure

The 2025 Maha Kumbh has been transformed into a “Digital Maha Kumbh,” incorporating advanced technological tools to enhance security:

AI and Drone Surveillance: AI-powered cameras, drones, and anti-drone systems monitor the vast event area.

Underwater Drones: Equipped with low-light functionality and real-time reporting, these drones ensure 24/7 surveillance beneath the sacred rivers.

Cybersecurity: A dedicated team ensures digital safety for the millions of devotees attending from across the globe.

Multi-Disaster Response and Emergency Readiness

State-of-the-art equipment has been deployed to handle emergencies effectively:

Multi-Disaster Response Vehicles: Equipped with victim location cameras, lifting tools, and cutting equipment, these vehicles can rescue individuals from debris and manage heavy objects.

Remote-Controlled Life Buoys: Rapidly deployed in emergencies to transport individuals to safety.

Incident Response System (IRS): A seven-tier framework ensures coordinated action during emergencies, with designated commanders managing operations at various levels.

Seven-Tier Security Framework

The Uttar Pradesh government has implemented a layered security plan, including:

Extensive searches and inspections across Prayagraj and neighboring districts.

Deployment of over 10,000 police personnel, along with PAC, NDRF, CAPF, and bomb disposal squads.

Strengthened police infrastructure with 57 permanent and 13 temporary stations, along with 23 checkpoints.

Enhanced River Security by Water Police

To ensure safety along the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, advanced measures include:

Surveillance: Underwater drones, sonar systems, and 3,800 Water Police personnel.

Infrastructure: Three Water Police stations, two floating rescue stations, and four water ambulances.

Emergency Tools: Speed motorboats, life jackets, and diving kits for rapid response.

Lost and Found Centers

High-tech Lost and Found centers will assist pilgrims in reuniting with their families. Facilities include:

Digital registration of lost individuals.

Public announcements and social media updates.

Police support for unclaimed persons within 12 hours.

The Maha Kumbh 2025 reflects the Uttar Pradesh government’s dedication to safety, spirituality, and meticulous planning. With cutting-edge technology and extensive resources, the event aims to provide a secure and divine experience for millions of devotees worldwide.
