Shivraj Singh Chouhan Assures Fertiliser Supply in Satna

Shivraj Singh Chouhan Assures Fertiliser Supply in Satna

Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare & Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited Satna, Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday and assured farmers that the government is committed to ensuring an uninterrupted supply of fertilisers and urea. Addressing media after an event at Excellence College, he said the interests of farmers remain paramount for the Government of India.

Responding to concerns raised by local farmers through memorandums, Shri Chouhan explained that the Fertiliser Ministry is working in coordination with the state government to meet rising demand. He stressed that fertiliser supply is being aligned with state requirements and distributed promptly to avoid shortages during the peak sowing season.

Increased Demand Due to Rainfall and Paddy Sowing

Highlighting the surge in demand, Shri Chouhan said that good rainfall and increased paddy cultivation have significantly raised the requirement for urea in the region. “Last year, Satna district consumed 23,585 metric tonnes of urea by this time. This year, 27,700 metric tonnes have already reached the district,” he said.

The minister added that an additional 1,500 metric tonnes of fertiliser was supplied on the day of his visit to ensure smooth distribution to farmers. He also directed officials to closely monitor the situation and address any gaps in supply immediately.

Central Government’s Commitment to Farmers

Shri Chouhan assured that the Centre is determined to strengthen coordination between the Fertiliser Ministry, state government, and district administration. He said constant efforts are being made to streamline the supply chain so that farmers do not face difficulties during the ongoing sowing season.

“Our farmers should not suffer due to logistical delays. If needed, discussions with the Fertiliser Ministry will be intensified to make the system more robust,” he noted, reaffirming the government’s long-term commitment to ensuring timely availability of agricultural inputs.

Farmers welcomed the assurance and expressed hope that continued monitoring will help avoid shortages during the crucial agricultural cycle.
