one of the victims of the Gagangir terror attack, expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of his father and shared that his death has shattered his dreams of becoming an IAS officer. Mohsin Shahnawaz Dar made an emotional appeal to the authorities to support him in achieving his goal,
Dr. Shahnawaz Dar was one of seven people killed in the attack, which occurred on Sunday evening as they were returning to their camp in Gund, Ganderbal. The attack took place at a tunnel construction site along the Srinagar-Leh national highway. In addition to Dr. Dar, designer Sushant Abrol and six laborers were also killed, while five others were injured and are receiving treatment at SKIMS hospital in Srinagar.
“My father was a respected and honest man in our community. He wanted me to become a doctor, but I aspired to become an IAS officer. My grandfather, a police inspector, believed in me and my potential to achieve that dream,” Mohsin said. He further added, “My father was committed to helping me fulfill this ambition, but after hearing the tragic news, I feel my dreams have been shattered.”
The Resistance Front (TRF) has claimed responsibility for the attack, and search operations to apprehend those involved are still ongoing. Meanwhile, Farooq Abdullah, president of the National Conference party, condemned the attack, holding Pakistan responsible. He criticized the senseless violence, stating, “This attack was tragic. What do the terrorists hope to achieve by killing innocent people like doctors and laborers? Kashmir will not become Pakistan.”
Abdullah further warned Pakistan to stop supporting terrorism if they wish to maintain good relations with India, adding, “Kashmir will not become Pakistan. It’s time to end terrorism, or the consequences will be severe. How can there be peace talks when they continue to kill our innocent people?”
An investigation team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), led by a senior officer, is expected to visit the site of the attack to conduct further inquiries.
