Sri Sathya Sai Baba Centenary: Murmu at Prasanthi Nilayam

RR Team, November 23, 2025November 23, 2025
President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu on 22 November 2025 attended a special session to mark the centenary celebration of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, praising his emphasis on selfless service and human values and urging spiritual organisations to contribute to nation-building.

Service and spirituality – a legacy renewed

Delivering the keynote at Prasanthi Nilayam, President Murmu highlighted how Sri Sathya Sai Baba “linked spirituality with selfless service and personal transformation,” inspiring millions to adopt service as a spiritual practice. She observed that his well-known slogans — “Love All, Serve All” and “Help Ever, Hurt Never” — remain timeless guides for social action and moral conduct.

Education, healthcare and water: tangible outcomes

The President noted the practical side of Baba’s mission. She pointed to the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust’s initiatives in free quality education and healthcare as examples of spirituality translated into public welfare. President Murmu also recalled the Trust’s large water supply projects that served drought-affected villages in the region — a reflection of the mission’s long-term developmental vision.

Values as curriculum for life

President Murmu said that Sri Sathya Sai Baba taught five human values — truth, morality, peace, love and non-violence — and described the world as a “school” where these values form the curriculum. She emphasized that these principles transcend culture and time and are essential to community cohesion and national progress.

Spiritual organisations and nation-building

Addressing representatives of spiritual and charitable organisations, the President urged cooperation with governmental efforts under the spirit of “Nation First.” She encouraged NGOs, charitable trusts, the private sector and citizens to collaborate with the government’s initiatives to simplify life for citizens and unlock individual talent for national development.

“All charitable organisations, NGOs, the private sector, and citizens should contribute to these efforts,” she said, adding that such combined efforts will help India meet its vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Continuity and context

The special session commemorates 100 years since the birth of Sri Sathya Sai Baba and draws attention to the long history of social welfare projects associated with his mission.
