Swasth Nari – Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan Kicks Off in Raipur

The Government of India has launched a major initiative to strengthen women’s health and nutrition. The Swasth Nari – Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan was inaugurated at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University in Raipur on Tuesday, in the presence of Union Women and Child Development Minister Annpurna Devi and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai. The launch coincided with the beginning of Seva Pakhwada, a nationwide campaign of outreach and service activities.

Addressing the programme virtually from Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the need to prioritize women’s health to build healthier families and a stronger society. He underlined that preventive healthcare, awareness, and accessibility of medical services for women are crucial for reducing the burden of serious illnesses.

Union Minister’s Visit to Health and Nutrition Initiatives

Following the launch, Union Minister Annpurna Devi toured an exhibition where different departments showcased schemes related to the health and nutrition of women and children. She was accompanied by State Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade. Later, they inspected an Anganwadi Centre in Nimora, interacting with workers and beneficiaries.

Speaking to the media, the Union Minister said: “Through the Swasth Nari – Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan, our priority is to spread awareness about women’s health issues and ensure the availability of healthcare services. It is the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to provide better healthcare to every woman and child and to secure a healthier future generation.” She also noted that the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah began simultaneously, reinforcing the government’s nutrition drive.

Dignitaries in Attendance

The event saw participation from several senior leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, Minister for Technical Education Guru Khuswant Saheb, MP from Raipur Brijmohan Agrawal, and top officials from both the State and Central governments. Their presence reflected a joint commitment to improving maternal and child health in Chhattisgarh.

Seva Pakhwada: Health and Nutrition Activities Until October 2

As part of the Seva Pakhwada, health camps, nutrition awareness sessions, counselling drives, and community outreach programmes will be held across the state until 2 October. The initiative aims to directly engage with women and families in both rural and urban areas to improve health outcomes.

The government has emphasized that a healthy woman forms the foundation of a strong family. By combining healthcare services with grassroots awareness campaigns, the initiative seeks to empower women to take control of their health while ensuring that children receive better nutrition and care.
