“Tamil Nadu Train Collision Leads to Cancellation of 18 Trains, High-Level Inquiry Launched”

A high-level inquiry has been initiated by Indian Railways following a train collision in Tamil Nadu, where a passenger train crashed into a stationary goods train near Chennai. As a result, 18 trains have been cancelled, and others rerouted while restoration efforts are underway.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also involved to determine whether the collision was caused by a technical failure or was intentional. The crash occurred while the passenger train was moving at 80 km/h, resulting in the derailment of six coaches from the Mysuru-Darbhanga Bagmati Superfast Express, three of which caught fire. There is no immediate confirmation of casualties, and the Ministry of Railways has not yet provided details on injuries.

The incident took place at Kavarapettai, part of the Chennai Railway Division, and emergency teams were dispatched to manage the situation and assist the injured. Initial reports suggest the train entered a loop line, leading to the collision.
