India has launched targeted military operations in the Arabian Sea after a series of provocative missile and drone attacks from Pakistan. The retaliatory move comes amidst rising tensions between the two nations, following a deadly terror strike in Pahalgam last month that took 26 lives, including those of innocent civilians and tourists.
India’s response, described by officials as “measured yet firm,” included strikes on multiple Pakistani targets. These operations are part of the broader military campaign, “Operation Sindoor,” initiated in the wake of Pakistan’s alleged support for terror outfits operating in the region. Among the high-profile targets hit were the headquarters of groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke.
Blackouts were temporarily imposed in cities like Chandigarh, Mohali, and Srinagar as a precautionary measure amid fears of further strikes. These security steps, though unsettling for civilians, underline the seriousness with which India is addressing the threat to its sovereignty and the safety of its people.
In a related development, Indian forces also foiled a significant infiltration attempt by militants in the Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted the bid late Thursday night, further highlighting the heightened state of alert along the border. Earlier, Pakistani troops had engaged in heavy mortar and artillery shelling across the Line of Control, affecting areas from Uri in north Kashmir to RS Pura in Jammu.
Tragically, one woman lost her life in the shelling in Uri, a somber reminder of the toll such escalations take on innocent civilians living near conflict zones.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri reiterated India’s commitment to peace, but emphasized the need to respond to threats with precision and restraint. He noted that India’s military strikes were carefully directed at non-civilian infrastructure to avoid unnecessary suffering, in stark contrast to the indiscriminate aggression displayed by the other side.
As the situation continues to evolve, the country remains united in support of its armed forces. Across the nation, prayers and special ceremonies are being held in solidarity, reflecting a shared hope for peace and resilience in the face of adversity.
