Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate six new Vande Bharat trains on Sunday, enhancing connectivity to various destinations, according to the Railway Ministry. These trains are designed to provide faster travel, enhanced safety, and a host of passenger amenities.
The addition of these six trains will increase the Vande Bharat fleet from 54 to 60, with 120 daily trips covering over 280 districts across 24 states and union territories. The announcement was made in a statement from the Railway Ministry on Saturday.
PM Modi will flag off the new trains at Tatanagar Junction Railway Station around 10 a.m. today, as per the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) release.
The expanding Vande Bharat portfolio aims to improve connectivity with new routes including Tatanagar-Patna, Brahmapur-Tatanagar, Rourkela-Howrah, Deoghar-Varanasi, Bhagalpur-Howrah, and Gaya-Howrah.
The Railway Ministry highlighted that these trains, part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, are designed to offer luxurious and efficient travel, incorporating advanced features such as fast acceleration, Kavach safety systems, an anti-virus system, and WiFi.
The Vande Bharat Express, which first launched on February 15, 2019, is capable of speeds up to 160 km/h, offering an exceptional travel experience. As of September 14, 2024, the fleet of 54 trains has completed approximately 36,000 trips and transported over 3.17 crore passengers.
The Vande Bharat 2.0 represents the next evolution of this flagship project, featuring even more advanced technologies. The ministry emphasized that these trains reflect India’s commitment to modern, efficient rail travel and set new standards for speed, safety, and passenger service.
As Indian Railways continues to expand, the Vande Bharat trains are set to revolutionize travel in India, aligning with the ‘Make in India’ vision and improving travel experiences nationwide.
